How do I pass the cost of CounselPro to my client?

On a one-off matter, run a Single Project and bill the $499 straight to that client as a case expense, the same way you would a filing fee or a records request. For firms running financial analysis across many matters, a plan is the cheaper path: you get credits at a low cost per matter and fold them into your standard case costs. Single Projects make the cost easy to pass through; plans make it cheap enough to absorb.

Can I cancel a monthly plan?

Yes, anytime. On monthly billing, Core, Plus and Premier run month to month, so you can cancel before your next bill and it stops there. If you have a single matter, the Single Project skips the subscription entirely: pay once, run the case, done.

Question 3

Is there a free trial?

Accepted Answer

Yes, for law firms and forensic or valuation consultancies signing up for a plan. It is a proof of concept: we process one of your real matters end to end under a mutual NDA, you explore the finished project, and if you sign, that project is free and your plan starts from there. Decide not to sign and you owe nothing, and we delete the records you sent.

Do you charge per user or per seat?

No. CounselPro is priced by plan and credits, never per user. One subscription covers your whole firm, so add as many attorneys and staff as you want at no extra cost. Work and analysis threads are shared across the team.

Are Single Projects really full-featured?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A Single Project is the whole platform on one case: extraction, categorization, AI querying, and full self-healing reconciliation, all of it. The only limit is credits, 1,000 to start and up to a 10,000-credit cap. The plans are about running that capability across a full caseload at a lower cost per matter, not about unlocking features you were missing.

How do credits work?

Accepted Answer

Every plan runs on credits. One page of a bank statement, credit card statement, or check image costs 1 credit. A page of a tax form or an investment or brokerage statement costs 2 credits, since those pack far more onto each page. A Single Project includes 1,000 credits for that case. On Core, Plus and Premier you choose how credits arrive. Pay monthly and you get 1,000 credits a month, reset to 1,000 at the start of every billing month, so unused credits expire at renewal. Pay yearly and all 12,000 credits land up front, so you can spend them whenever the work comes in.

What happens when I run out of credits?

You buy a packet of 1,000, 5,000, or 10,000 credits. Bigger packets bring the price per credit down, and the rate depends on your plan, with the numbers in the rate card above. On a monthly plan your balance still resets to 1,000 credits each billing month, so a packet only comes up on a heavy month.

Why do credits cost more on some plans than others?

Because a credit buys more work on the higher plans. On Core, a credit pays for plain extraction: pull the page and sort the transactions. On Plus, that same page also runs through AI querying and forensic reporting. On Premier, and on every Single Project, a credit drives self-healing reconciliation, where CounselPro re-reads any page whose math does not balance until it does. More passes over the page and heavier processing, so the rate reflects the depth of the work, not just the page count. Bigger packets lower the price per credit on every plan.

Which plans include self-healing reconciliation?

Accepted Answer

The Premier plan, and every matter you run as a Single Project. On both, each statement is balanced to its own printed starting and ending totals. When the numbers do not match, CounselPro finds the page that is wrong and re-reads it until the math balances, so what you export already balances. Core and Plus pull every transaction but do not check them against printed totals.

When will investment and brokerage statements be ready?

Brokerage and investment statement support is coming in Q4 2026 on the Single Project plan, Plus, and Premier. Today CounselPro reads bank statements, credit card statements, and check images. The Portfolio work (holdings, trades, and realized gains) is on the roadmap, and we will not bill you for a capability before it ships.

Can CounselPro read tax documents?

Tax document parsing is coming in Q4 2026 to the Single Project plan, Plus, and Premier. Today CounselPro reads bank statements, credit card statements, and check images. Tax returns are on the roadmap, not live yet, and we will not bill you for a capability before it ships.

Question 12

Can I get a refund after I start processing?

Accepted Answer

On a Single Project or a subscription, you can request a refund within 30 days of your billing date, as long as you have used 200 credits or fewer and have not exported anything yet. Once you pass 200 credits or run an export, the work counts as fully rendered and it is no longer refundable. The 2.9% card processing fee comes out of the refund, because the payment processor keeps it. A refund deletes your workspace, ends access and clears any remaining credits. Is my client data secure?

Yes. Your records are encrypted on the way in and while they sit with us, the infrastructure we run on is checked by outside auditors, and the platform is built to align with ABA Model Rule 1.6 on client confidentiality. We never train models on your client data.
