One matter, end to end

How CounselPro works

Send the records the way they arrived. Four steps later every transaction sits in one ledger, each one linked to the statement page it came off, next to a short list of calls only a lawyer can make.

  • Send it as it arrived
  • Watch it work
  • Every figure keeps its page

The process

What happens after you upload

You do step one. The next three run on their own, and the work stops where a lawyer has to make the call.

Step 1You

Send it the way it arrived

Drag in what the other side produced: one merged PDF, a folder of scans, a zip of check images. Nothing gets renamed, split or put in order first. What comes back is the production as a case, with every month its own statement on a named account.

Step 2CounselPro

How does it read a scanned statement?

A clean bank export and a tenth-generation fax go through the same door, and a crooked phone photo is read as an image first. Every figure comes off the page it was printed on, and the row it becomes keeps that page for good.

The four marked lines on the page, now four of the 47 rows this month. Every one of them keeps the page it came off.

Step 3CounselPro

How does it name every transaction?

Banks print in shorthand. A string like the one here is a car lease going out the door every month, and CounselPro reads it that way rather than hunting for exact words. Money moving between the client’s own accounts is marked internal, so the month counts once.

Step 4CounselPro

How does it balance each month?

Beginning, plus what moved, equals ending, checked against the totals the bank printed. Pages that come up short are read again against the page image until every figure matches. Reconciliation runs on the plans that carry it.

What lands on your desk

Everything the records could settle is settled. What is left is a short list, and every item on it arrives with the statement page beside it.

Every call here stays attributed to whoever made it and can be taken back. CounselPro writes down what the statement prints; the judgment about what it means stays with you.

Output

What you walk out with

Four things leave with the file, and every figure in them links back to the statement page it came off.

The transaction ledger

Every row with its date, description, amount, direction, account and the statement page it came off. Click a row in the app to open that page. Out as CSV or XLSX.

Every statement, balanced or open

Balanced, held open, or never produced, account by account and month by month, so the coverage of the production is a document rather than a memory.

The forensic report

Twelve named sections, steered by the matter type you pick from family law, bankruptcy, civil litigation, probate, business dispute, business acquisition, Medicaid and immigration. Editable after it is written. See the report.

Answers, with the arithmetic

Ask in plain English and the answer comes back as a chart, a table or a list, every figure computed and shown, every one linked to its page. Out as CSV, XLSX, PNG or PDF. Meet Daystrom.
