# Can I upload a statement with multiple accounts in one PDF?

> Yes. Upload the combined PDF as is. CounselPro splits it into each account and each statement period on its own, so you never have to separate accounts by hand.

Yes. Upload the combined PDF exactly as you got it from the bank. During processing, CounselPro splits the file into each account and each statement period on its own, so you never have to pull the accounts apart yourself.

## How the split works

A single PDF often holds more than one account, or several months for the same account, or both. CounselPro reads the whole file and breaks it into pieces:

- **One piece per account.** If a statement covers checking and savings together, each account becomes its own segment.
- **One piece per statement period.** Each billing cycle inside the file is separated out, so a quarter of activity in one PDF becomes three monthly cycles.

Each piece is then read and reconciled on its own. That is what lets [reconciliation](https://www.counselpro.ai/docs/category/reconciliation) check the beginning and ending balance for every account, in every cycle, even when they arrived in one file.

## What you'll see

On the **Files** tab, the file you uploaded shows as one statement. Expand it and you will see the accounts and cycles CounselPro found inside, each with its own dates and its own [status](https://www.counselpro.ai/docs/what-the-statement-statuses-mean). You do not have to do anything to make the split happen, it is part of processing.

If the same cycle turns up twice, for example because it appears in two overlapping PDFs, CounselPro links the copies and leaves the duplicate out of the totals so nothing is counted twice. See [why a statement is marked a duplicate](https://www.counselpro.ai/docs/why-is-my-statement-a-duplicate).

## Do I still need to upload everything?

Yes. Combining accounts in one PDF is convenient, but it does not change what you need to send. Upload every statement for the matter, across every account and every month, so CounselPro can see the full picture and [coverage](https://www.counselpro.ai/docs/check-statement-coverage-gaps) can show you what is still missing.
